Match Report:
St Joseph’s 8 - 5 St Lawrence O’Tooles
It was a fabulous day to play a soccer match and the boys had a wonderful opportunity to open their soccer season with a friendly against near neighbours, St Lawrence O’Toole’s at the magnificent Alfie Byrne Astro pitches in Clontarf.
The boys battled hard in the first half and took an early lead through Jack Moore with the opening goal after 2 minutes.
St Lawrence O’Tooles were playing fantastic football and soon found themselves 2-1 up 20 minutes later. Their lead was ruled out by an outstanding 30 yard goal by Gary Byrne and rightly so by half time the score stood at 4-4 with both teams showing quality in attack.
It was anyone’s game at half time but the St Joseph’s boys showed their resilience and determination to go on in the second half and win the match 8-5.
It was an incredible performance by all the boys showing that their hard work in training is really paying off!
Their next match will be against O’Connell’s in their final friendly before the first cup match of the season!
